I voted for the bridle joint since it has the largest gluing surfaces. The End Lap L : also referred to as the pull lap, this is the basic lap joint where members are joined end to end at a parallel or perpendicular angle. The interlocking dovetail joint has a large gluing area, further adding to its strength. The need for accuracy is rather forgiving, unless aesthetics are a priority for a particular project. However, it is one of the most aesthetically pleasing joints available.

Wood joints differ in ease of production inherent. Halving joints are very common in frame construction and are all cut with saw and chisel. This type of joint has been used in everything from furniture to log cabin construction for hundreds of years because it can hold up under a lot of stress and pressure.

The mitre joint is similar to the butt joint where two timber ends butt together and are attached. However, the ends of the timber on a mitre joint are cut at.The mortise and tenon joint requires a high amount of skill.

ABSTRACT. The strength and stiffness of a notched, cross-halved joint was investigated using a three-dimen- sional finite element method (FEM).It is basically the wall leading from the notched floor to the top of the workpiece face.

Con: The lap joint is the weakest of the traditional joints, save the simple butt or mitre joint, at least with traditional glues. Not at all, so long as the lap joint notches are the same size as the member.

So, when using Lap Joints, try to make the joint as close to perfect by striking a line exactly in between both boards and working outwards from there.

This can be problematic if your project needs a lot of small pieces since it would take a long time for each piece to dry on its own before being able to move onto another stage in construction!
